Opera School
The training at the Opera School of the HfM Würzburg is very practice-oriented and prepares young singers for all the demands of everyday theater life. The lecturers are experienced artists of international renown, most of whom are still in their artistic careers themselves and can impart their experience directly from the field to the students. By means of improvisation, acting and speech training, students are introduced to scenic performance and are also involved in opera productions as soon as possible. A production is worked on each semester at the university's own theater, with attention paid to the major repertoire pieces as well as baroque opera and contemporary musical theater. The basics of musical singing and dance are also taught, and there are regular workshops on specific topics. Through close cooperation with the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, students have opportunities to perform, and through visits to performances and dress rehearsals they also get to know the larger theaters in the area. In this way, graduates of the Würzburg University of Applied Sciences have repeatedly been able to gain a foothold in professional life and pursue successful stage careers in the past.
