HfM-BRASS

HfM-BRASS stands for the brass ensemble of the Würzburg University of Music. The special thing about this formation is that it has emerged and grown over many years from a purely instructional event at the Musikhochschule. Thus, this ensemble consists of students from different courses of study, from Bachelor, Master to school music. What they all have in common is that they play a brass instrument as their instrumental major. Consequently, there is a certain exchange in the line-up from year to year, which further enlivens the musical creativity of this ensemble. Therefore, it speaks for the quality of HfM-BRASS that this formation has recently found its way more and more into various concert series.

The direction of HfM-BRASS is in the hands of Norbert Daum, who as a lecturer for trombone at the HfM Würzburg intensively supervises this ensemble in his lessons. During regular rehearsals he works mainly with the tentet instrumentation, which is also generally the standard for the large brass ensemble. The repertoire is wide-ranging and extends from the Renaissance to the modern era, with original works composed for this instrumentation being heard alongside effective arrangements.
