The “studio für neue musik” is the equally innovative and traditional address for new and contemporary music in Würzburg. At the center of its activities are about six concerts per year, also in connection with workshops and concert introductions, often by the composers themselves.

The thematic spectrum is diverse: Introducing performers and composers of the region, anniversaries of important composers of the 20th century, presenting innovative concepts and instruments, linking with other art forms, new media and other cultures, and much more.

Most of the concerts are joint events with the HfM Würzburg and are thus an integral part of their concert season. However, in order to make contemporary music accessible to as large and diverse an audience as possible, events are also held at other venues in the Würzburg area, such as the Museum im Kulturspeicher.
