Hommage is the central thematic reference point of this new CD release, which is the result of a collaboration between the Studio for New Music at the Würzburg University of Music and the Tyrolean Chamber Orchestra InnStrumenti under the direction of Gerhard Sammer. It presents works by composers from Germany and Austria spanning four generations. The quality and musical range of the six world premieres and the internationally renowned soloists Gerold Huber (piano) and Florian Bramböck (saxophone) featured on this disc are remarkable: The CD opens with a tribute by Bertold Hummel, who composed his intense Adagio for Strings in Memoriam immediately after the death of Benjamin Britten. This will be followed by the world premiere of the piano concerto Hommage à trois by Christoph Wünsch, composer and President of the Würzburg University of Music. Each of the three movements makes tonal references to G.G. (George Gershwin), B.B. (Béla Bartók) and C.C. (Chick Corea). The oppressive orchestral work by the renowned South Tyrolean composer Manuela Kerer is a "homage to all those who have had to flee or go into hiding. Joachim F. W. Schneider (also a lecturer at the HfM Würzburg) chooses a different approach in Gambit, an homage à une idée, which refers to the significance of the unpredictable. In "The Flow - Healing Music for Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra", Florian Bramböck referred to a striking mountain peak. Katrin Klose, a graduate of the Hfm Würzburg, was invited to present her specific sound language, an homage to Grisey. Symphytum Sinfonium by the young composer René Schützenhofer concludes the sound arch.

The CD is now available online.
