Prof. Conrad von der Goltz passed away on 21 November 2023 at the age of 95. He taught violin at the University of Music in Würzburg from 1963 to 1993. Conrad von der Goltz rendered outstanding services by founding the early education programme (now PreCollege) at the Würzburg University of Music. The university awarded him the Golden Badge of Honour for his outstanding commitment.
"For me, giving always means more than receiving..." is a quote from the artist, and anyone who was able to enjoy his lessons knows that this statement from the passionate teacher was justified. In addition to his own artistic work as a violin virtuoso in concerts, chamber music ensembles and orchestras, he inspired many young musicians to play the violin with his expertise, imagination and passion, making it the centre of their lives and, for many, their profession.
Conrad von der Goltz was particularly keen to train talented young musicians. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for creating early education classes at the Würzburg University of Music and the Institute for Catholic Church Music and Music Education in Regensburg.
In his old age, Conrad von der Goltz was able to look back on a rich life in which he was honoured by many music students and musicians as a mentor and committed teacher as well as a charismatic musician and person.
We will honour Conrad von der Goltz's memory.
