General regulations
- Previous 1st prize winners in the FMB competition are not eligible to participate again in this subject.
- enrolled young students + students under 30 years of age (date of birth not before January 15, 1993).
- All laureates of the main competition are obliged to perform at the corresponding laureate concert on January 15, 2023 at the Konzerthaus Berlin together with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
- All nominees of the preliminary competition are also obliged to perform at the general laureate concert of the University of Music Würzburg.
Repertoire preliminary round

Repertoire for the first round (max. 25 minutes)
1. n.n. (commissioned composition): Commissioned work for violoncello solo, max. 6 minutes long, which will be sent to the participants in November 2022.
2. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy:
- Sonata for violoncello and piano in B-flat major, op. 45 or
- Sonata for violoncello and piano D major op. 58
Repertoire for the Second Round (max. 45 min.)
- Johann Sebastian Bach: One of the suites for violoncello solo BWV 1007 to 1012
- One or more works of free choice (program similar to a recital) (single movements are allowed)
