The physicist and mathematician Prof. Wolfgang Fischer (1926 - 2003) was one of the first men at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences, where he set up the computer science course as an independent discipline for data processing. In addition to his scientific teaching activities, he was particularly interested in classical music. That is why he founded the Wolfgang Fischer and Maria Fischer-Flach Foundation in 2002. The purpose of the foundation is to honour special artistic achievements of students at the University of Music.

The repertoire is freely selectable, duration of the lecture approx. 25-30 minutes. All ensemble members must be registered at the HfM Würzburg at the time of the competition.
Students on leave of absence are admitted. Students who have already won the 1st prize are not eligible to participate again.
