Vito Castagna initially received a temporary contract as principal English horn at Graz Opera in May 2025. Just one month later, he also managed to secure a permanent orchestral engagement as second oboe and cor anglais player at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Italy.

The Italian oboist, currently a master's student in the class of Prof. Domenico Orlando, can look back on an impressive artistic development. He previously studied with Emanuel Abbühl at the University of Music Würzburg Basel.
Castagna gained international attention in July 2023 as a finalist in the prestigious IDRS Gillet-Fox International Oboe Competition, where he was awarded an Honorable Mention.

As a sought-after orchestral musician, he has already played in numerous renowned ensembles, including the Zurich Opera House Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Academy Basel, the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano and renowned youth orchestras such as the Pacific Music Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Orchestra Academy of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Bregenz Festival, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Orchestre National des Jeunes (Luxembourg) and the Neue Philharmonie München.
