Vito Castagna, a student in Prof. Domenico Orlando’s class, has successfully completed his probationary period at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and secured a permanent position as second oboe and English horn. He has been working there since September 2025 and has continued his artistic training at the HfM in parallel.

The oboist, who hails from Sicily, initially completed his studies at the Conservatoire in Palermo and subsequently continued his training with Emanuel Abbühl at the Basel Academy of Music. He is currently studying in Prof. Domenico Orlando’s class at the Würzburg University of Music.

His artistic career to date includes an internship at the Zurich Opera House and participation in international youth orchestra and music festival projects, including the Pacific Music Festival (PMF) in Japan. He has also been recognised at the prestigious IDRS competition.
