The oboist Myriam Navarri, a student of Prof. Domenico Orlando, has successfully completed her probationary year with the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra and has been appointed as the orchestra’s principal oboist.
Born in Milan in 2002, the musician received her first oboe lessons at the age of 13 from Irene Draxinger. Following her bachelor’s degree under Prof. Ralph van Daal in Düsseldorf, she has been continuing her studies with Prof. Domenico Orlando since October 2025.
Myriam Navarri gained extensive orchestral experience whilst still a student. She was an academy member with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and performed as principal oboist on fixed-term contracts with the orchestras in Hagen and Duisburg. She gained further important artistic inspiration through her involvement with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Pacific Festival Orchestra.
At the 2024 German Music Competition, she reached the final, was awarded several special prizes and was accepted into the German Music Council’s concert sponsorship programme.
Since September 2025, Myriam Navarri has been principal oboist with the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra. Having successfully completed her probationary year and now secured a permanent position, she has reached another milestone in her musical career.
