The pianist Taewoong Yoo, a graduate of Prof. Bernd Glemser’s piano class at the Würzburg University of Music, was awarded first prize at the Massarosa International Piano Competition (Italy), which took place from 9 to 13 June 2026. In addition to prize money of 5,000 euros, he received an invitation to give a solo recital as a special prize.
The Massarosa International Piano Competition is one of Italy’s most prestigious competitions for young talent and is open to young pianists from all over the world. Over several rounds of the competition, participants perform before an international jury of experts, presenting a challenging solo programme spanning various musical periods. The competition promotes outstanding pianistic achievement and offers prize-winners valuable concert opportunities.
Taewoong Yoo completed his Master’s degree at the Würzburg University of Music (HfM Würzburg) from 2021 to 2023, studying under Professor Bernd Glemser. Since 2023, he has been continuing his artistic training there in the masterclass.
