Christoph Preiß, who studies organ at the HfM Würzburg with Prof. Dr. h.c. Christoph Bossert and piano with Prof. Bernd Glemser, won the jury's sponsorship award of the 1st International (Online) Organ Competition at the Bach Biennale Weimar. Organists from all over the world were invited to "deal with the world-renowned Thuringian organ landscape and the great composers who revolutionized the organ world from Thuringia." To be mastered were improvisations on works by J. S. Bach, Franz Liszt or Max Reger, as well as the occupation with the "sound search for the unheard" in the context of the task to imagine the (possible) organ sound of the 21st century.
Christoph Preiß has been studying organ and piano at the HfM Würzburg since 2019, and church music since 2021. The young musician, who has won several awards, has won the national competition "Jugend musiziert" twice, among others. His concert activities have led to invitations to Munich, Budapest and Bonn, among others. Already in 2017, Christoph Preiß was awarded the special prize of the Evangelical Church of Germany at the WESPE competition in Regensburg as the youngest participant, and in 2018 he received both the Youth Culture Prize of the district of Regensburg and the Music Prize of the city of Regensburg.
