"We Make Music – Basic Music Practice in Primary School"

A series of professional development courses for teachers at the Würzburg University of Music

Through its professional development series ‘We Make Music – Elementary Music Practice in Primary Schools’, the Würzburg University of Music supports primary school teachers in making music a vibrant part of everyday school life – regardless of whether they have studied music.

Following the very positive feedback from the last two series and the great commitment shown by the participating teachers, the Würzburg University of Music is once again drawing attention to this practical training programme.

Particularly when music is taught by teachers specialising in other subjects, practical ideas, confidence in teaching methods and a well-stocked ‘musical toolbox’ can be a great help. The five-part professional development series is therefore aimed in particular at primary school teachers who teach music outside their specialist subject and who are keen to develop their music lessons in a creative and practical way.

Under the guidance of lecturers from the HfM Würzburg, participants will receive a wide range of ideas that can be put into practice immediately in the classroom. One thing, in particular, is emphasised: practical application! Participants make music, experiment, move around, develop their own ideas and discover numerous possibilities which they can then put into practice straight away with their pupils.

The aim of the training is to empower teachers to confidently and joyfully create musical learning and performance experiences for children.

Anyone interested in further information about the programme should contact Prof. Michael Forster.
