A multi-faceted look at Robert HP Platz's work in book form

A publication just published by Pfau-Verlag under the editorship of Gordon Campe is dedicated in three parts to the diverse activities of the "border crosser" Robert HP Platz, who has held a professorship for composition and ensemble conducting (Ensemble Neue Musik) at the HfM Würzburg since 2013. Martin Zenck, Raoul Mörchen, Rainer Peters and editor Gordon Kampe deal with the compositional work of the versatile artist in the first part of the three-part publication. Lotte Thaler, Carin Levine, Maurice Oeser, Malika Kishino, Maurice Oeser and Michael Faust, interpreters and companions who honour the composer as a constant practitioner and, to a certain extent, also as a tinkerer, deal with Platz's preferred "working tools", primarily the flute. The close relationship of Robert HP Platz to Asian art and culture, which was reflected in many of his works in very different ways, is also illuminated in the second part of the book. In partly personal, almost private words, former students describe their impressions of Platz's decades of work as an educator. Finally, Platz himself has his say with the transcript of the Klang Raum Zeit lecture.
