The annual Christmas sound story under the direction of Prof. Daniela Hasenhündl was a real crowd-puller this year with over 630 enthusiastic visitors. Children from 15 Würzburg kindergartens immersed themselves in a rousing musical story at two morning performances, while the doors were opened to families in the afternoons.
The students of Elementary Music Pedagogy (EMP) composed all the songs and pieces of music for a story themselves and once again impressed with their creative diversity and artistic skills. Particularly impressive was the balancing act of meeting the expectations of children aged 4 to 8 as well as the demands of adult listeners - a challenge that they succeeded in doing brilliantly with this sound story.
In the spirit of EMP, the audience was actively involved in the action. Young and old made music together with Koralie, the seahorse, and Bommel, the pompom crab, on specially made shell sticks. One of the many lively songs took everyone on a lively wave ride through the sea, while everyone danced the samba with Flutter, the ragged fish.
The story was complemented by lovingly designed pictures by Robin Horn and Jenny Choi, which were
integrated into a PowerPoint presentation and presented on a large screen in harmony with the music. This visual accompaniment brought the story to life and captivated the audience.
The narrator, Victoria Sommerer, delighted the audience with her expressive voice and managed to captivate the children from the very first minute.
Thanks to the varied forms of presentation and levels of expression, the audience was transported into a fascinating underwater world full of seahorses, pompom crabs, rag fish and dugongs. The students impressively demonstrated how a concert education concept can be creatively and successfully implemented.
The result of this artistic work was recorded by Jürgen Rummel in the university's recording studio in the form of a professional CD production. In addition, Jürgen Rummel produced a video for the first time this year, which unites the musicians, the narrator and the images, creating an impressive overall impression.
