"Bildungsanspruch und Statuswechsel" is the title of Bernd Clausen's new book, in which he examines music teacher training at the University of Music Würzburg from an institutional history perspective. The blurb informs: "The starting point of this study is the question of how and why today's University of Music Würzburg (HfM) became the second music university in Bavaria in 1973. [...] In order to make music teacher training visible as part of a musical (popular) educational concept, the study goes back to the founding year 1804. It is shown that music teacher education is a continuous field of activity of the University of Music Würzburg, in which the change of status in 1974 with its event character is contextually embedded."

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bernd Clausen was Professor of Music Education at the University of Music Würzburg until 2019 and played a key role in shaping the development of the university from 2014 to 2017 as President and previously as Vice President. He now teaches as Professor of Music Education at the University of Siegen.
