On Sunday 26 November, the new formation performed a concert entitled "TuttiSoli". Conducted by Wolfgang Kurz with Sinn Yang as concertmaster, the programme included works by Bach, Handel, Telemann, Cherubini, Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and the world premiere of the orchestral work 'Aiolos' by 15-year-old Moritz Hoffmeyer, a composition student of Joachim Schneider. The enthusiasm of the young, excellent musicians was transmitted to the large audience, who honoured the musicians with enthusiastic applause.
At the PreCollege, the early childhood development centre for highly talented young musicians, around 40 students study their instrument, singing or composition with professors from the University of Music. In addition to some PreCollege alumni, there is now a chamber orchestra.
Prof. Wolfgang Kurz, lecturer in orchestral conducting, and Sinn Yang, lecturer in violin at the PreCollege, had the idea of putting together a programme consisting of individual movements from solo concertos. This gave several outstanding PreCollege students the opportunity to perform a piece from their current repertoire with orchestra.
Further performances are planned, including on 15 June 2024, when the "Würzburg Centre for the Promotion of Musical Excellence" will celebrate its fifth anniversary in a ceremony together with guests of honour.
You are already cordially invited to attend!
