The certificate program in music geragogy focuses on the emotional and cultural needs of older people. The course focuses on both structured and spontaneous musical activities in educational and senior citizen facilities. In addition to basic gerontological knowledge and specific methods of elementary music pedagogy (EMP), impulses are given for making music together with older people. The program also provides intensive opportunities for musical self-awareness, communicative skills and reflection on one's own practical experience. Teachers from Bavarian music academies and other institutions guarantee comprehensive, professional training.

The certificate program is run by the University of Music Würzburg in close cooperation with the Verband Bayerischer Sing- und Musikschulen e. V. (VBSM) and is university-certified.
