Samira Spiegel, a musician from Würzburg and alumna of the Würzburg University of Music (HfM), has been awarded the 2026 Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize in the ‘Music’ category. This was announced by Markus Blume, Minister for the Arts, in Munich: “She represents a new generation of artists who push boundaries, dare to try new things and bring their own unique touch to music.”

Samira Spiegel is one of those rare dual talents who excels at the highest level on both the piano and the violin. This exceptional artist began her musical training at the HfM Würzburg (piano with Bernd Glemser and Silke-Thora Matthies; violin with Conrad von der Goltz and Herwig Zack). This was followed by her concert examination in violin at the Detmold University of Music and further postgraduate qualifications in piano and contemporary music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where she has also been pursuing her artistic doctoral studies since October 2022.

With this award, the Free State of Bavaria recognises her impressive musical excellence, curiosity and versatility. Alongside Samira Spiegel, Laura Detterbeck, Yudania Gómez Heredia and the band Pam Pam Ida were also honoured.

The presentation of the 2026 Bavarian Arts Promotion Prizes will take place on 12 November 2026 at the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich.
