The Würzburg University of Music mourns the loss of its colleague Beate Knobloch.
Beate Knobloch had been working as a lecturer in the Historical Instruments Department at our university since 2010. She taught the recorder until the summer term of 2026. Her teaching also included chamber music, recorder consort and Baroque dance. Beate Knobloch passed away on 26 July 2026 following a long and serious illness.
Beate Knobloch studied the recorder in Würzburg, Basel, Zurich, Amsterdam and Linz. Alongside her musical training, she had a particular interest in historical dance. She received her dance training from renowned specialists from across Europe. She performed as a musician both at home and abroad and passed on her knowledge and experience through dance and instrumental courses.
Beate Knobloch was highly regarded and much loved by both students and colleagues. She always treated those around her with great warmth, sensitivity and openness. She was always cheerful and positive, and greatly enriched the Historical Instruments Department with her dedication, her teaching skills and her optimistic nature.
We shall always honour the memory of Beate Knobloch.
