To kick off the winter semester, the University Board invited the public to the Festive Opening of the Academic Year in the Great Hall on Nov. 3, 2022. Numerous guests accepted the invitation and enjoyed the varied program. Vice President Prof. Dr. Andreas C. Lehmann welcomed guests of honor, university members and alumni of the University of Music Würzburg. In his address, President Prof. Dr. Christoph Wünsch gave an overview of the past year and an outlook for the coming year. Afterwards he said goodbye to teachers and welcomed new lecturers of our university. Vice President Prof. Rudolf Ramming awarded this year's German scholarships and honored the sponsors.
The musical start of the event was made by the chamber choir under the direction of Prof. Benedikt Haag. Prof. Clara Blessing introduced herself musically with the baroque oboe, accompanied by Prof. Ralf Waldner on the harpsichord. Prof. Christianne Stotijn presented herself with several songs by Brahms, partly in duet with KS Prof. Jochen Kupfer, accompanied by Prof. Alexander Fleischer. The event was concluded by the university big band under the direction of Prof. Marko Lackner.
At the reception that followed, many guests took the opportunity to socialize and enjoyed the personal encounters. Musical entertainment was provided by Kevin Pfister on piano, Sebastian Claas on double bass and Jonathan Graf on drums.
