Prof. Eberhard Buschmann passed away on March 28, 2024 at the age of 93. He taught bassoon and piano at the University of Music Würzburg from 1971 to 1996.
Eberhard Buschmann was a passionate and extremely versatile musician. He played several instruments and was excellent at arranging musical works for wind ensembles in the style of the time. At the University of Music in Würzburg, Eberhard Buschmann established the subject "practical school piano playing" and supervised the popular series "Concerts after closing time". Even after his retirement, he remained closely associated with his former place of work until his sudden death.
Eberhard Buschmann was very successful as an artist. He was a long-time member of the "Consortium Classicum" and performed as a soloist at the Mozartfest Würzburg for 25 consecutive years. He was musically active until the end, accompanying several choirs on the piano and organizing a music series in a retirement home, in which he himself played and in which students from our university were also involved.
In his old age, Eberhard Buschmann was able to look back on a rich life in which he was revered and appreciated by music students and musicians as an empathetic and open-minded musician and person.
We will keep an honorable memory of Eberhard Buschmann.
