Application | Entrance Exams - Composition with New Media

Apply here for our new Master's program in "Composition with Digital Media". The application will open in January 2026, and the deadline is March 15, 2026.
Students in our inaugural cohort will receive private instruction from Prof. Dr. Jason Thorpe Buchanan, as well as seminars in analysis and intermedial composition, audio programming, studio technology, and more with Prof. Thorpe Buchanan, Prof. Andreas Dohmen, and Hannes Brugger. This complements the university's comprehensive range of curriculum for composers. In January, a new professor will take over the direction of the New Music Ensemble. This appointment marks the beginning of a new era for the composition and new music community here in Würzburg.
Performances of student works will take place in the Hochschule's performance spaces, including the Theater, the Recital Hall, and the Chamber Music Hall. Guest musicians and composers, workshops, and intermedial projects are a regular feature.
Students in our program benefit from nearly zero tuition fees, which includes local public transportation and extensive private instruction. They also have access to state-of-the-art equipment, funded by the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria.
Applicants for the Masters and Meisterklasse programs must present a B1 German certificate before the start of the semester in October. If you have any questions about the Application Process please contact Prof. Dr. Jason Thorpe Buchanan.
