During his studies at the University of Music Würzburg, Carsten Vollmuth already played in various renowned orchestras as a solo tuba player. In addition to the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the National Theater Orchestra Mannheim and the Meininger Hofkapelle, he has also worked as a freelancer with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig. Since 2001 he has been tuba player in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Erfurt.

With the beginning of the summer semester 2021, the University of Music Würzburg was able to win Carsten Vollmuth, who has worked as an instrumental teacher in Ansbach, Jena and Erfurt, among other places, to take on a teaching position in the subject of tuba.
