Hubert Steiner

Hubert Steiner completed his classical guitar studies at the University of Music in Würzburg under Prof. Jürgen Ruck. Numerous prizes and awards (the Kranichstein Music Prize, the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize, etc.) mark his successful career as a guitarist and performer of contemporary music. He is a regular guest with renowned contemporary music ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern, the Klangforum Wien, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, musikFabrik and many others. He is also frequently invited to perform with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. His chamber music activities are highly varied and span a wide range of styles. Numerous recordings, including collaborations with Sarah Maria Sun, Jürgen Ruck, the ensemble aisthesis and many others, attest to his immense musical and instrumental versatility.
Hubert Steiner has also made a name for himself as an arranger of contemporary music. For the Ensemble ascolta, he transcribed and arranged works by Frank Zappa and Conlon Nancarrow.
Hubert Steiner lives near Würzburg and has been teaching at the University of Music since 2002. Since 2020, he has also been a lecturer at the ‘Musication’ vocational college for music in Nuremberg.
