Nikolai Siebenhaar studied percussion and timpani at the University of Music in Würzburg, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees under Prof. Mark Lutz and Robert Cürlis. Even while still a student, he gained orchestral experience as an intern with the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra and as a trainee with the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra. Further engagements have taken him to the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen and the Staatskapelle Halle, among others.

Since 2024, he has been principal timpanist with the Staatskapelle Halle. In addition, he has performed as a substitute with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg, and the Jenaer Philharmonie, among others.

In 2018, Nikolai Siebenhaar was awarded first prize at the Nuremberg Percussion Competition. With his percussion ensemble “TR3O,” he received a special grant from the PE Grants for Music Students in 2021.

Since the 2025–26 winter semester, he has been a lecturer in timpani and orchestral studies at the University of Music in Würzburg. In his teaching, he combines technical precision with tonal imagination and musical expression. He places particular emphasis on the individual development of students as well as on practical preparation for professional orchestral performance.
