Jochen Pfister

Jochen Pfister studied jazz piano at the Nuremberg - Augsburg Academy of Music from 2003 to 2007 with Prof. Martin Schrack and Bernhard Pichl. A postgraduate study at the Musikhochschule Würzburg with Tine Schneider and Armin Fuchs (classical piano) followed from 2007 to 2008.
In addition, he participated in several workshops (Barry Harris, Mark Turner, Ack van Rooyen, among others). 2007 first study visit in the USA at Jazz in July in Amherst (lessons with Dr. Billy Taylor, Geri Allen, Chip Jackson) as well as in New York (private lessons with Mark Soskin and Don Friedman).
In the winter semester 2008/ 2009 he was a guest student at Queens College in New York City, where he studied with Kevin Hays, David Berkman, George Colligan, Mark Soskin, and Michael Phillip Mossman, among others.
Since 2009 he has been organizing and performing tours with his trio with NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan.
2011 CD recording and tour as leader with the quintet "breitband".
In addition, he is a sought-after sideman in the formations "Jungblut", "Izabella Effenberg IZA", "Eazz.Band", " Snijders Emminger 5tet", among others, at numerous festivals and club concerts ("JazzBaltica", "Ingolstädter Jazztage", "Stimmenfang Festival Nürnberg", "Jazzfestival Frankfurt", "Jazzweekend Straubing", "Jazzclub Unterfahrt" etc).
Radio recordings and compositions for NDR ("Story of Blue Note"), BR (Eazz.Band) and Arte ("Kurt Tucholsky in Berlin") complete his musical vita.
