Lucio Maier
Lucio Maier, born in Argentina, began his training at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires under the direction of Alicia Hardoy and Roberto Castro, where he obtained degrees in instrumental pedagogy and artistic training. Regarding the latter, he received special recognition for his outstanding achievements.
From 1997 he continued his studies at the Folkwang Musikhochschule in Essen with Prof. Michael Roll and was able to finish them in February 1999 with the artistic final examination. In April 2003 he completed the master class diploma at the Musikhochschule Würzburg with Prof. Andras Hamary.
He won the first prize at the following national and international competitions: 'Young Interpreters 1994', 'National Competition for Young Soloists 1994', '3rd Competition Franz Liszt, Buenos Aires, 1995', 'Young Interpreters 1996', 'UNESCO Competition 1996 for Young Instrumentalists', 'Competition Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez 1996' and 'Competition Drago-Mitre 1997'.
Besides participating in numerous international master classes with Joaquin Achucarro, Lazar Berman, Detlef Kraus, Viktor Merzhanov, Luiz de Moura Castro, Piotr Paleczny, John Perry, Pierre Reàch, Laszlo Simon and Sontraud Speidel, he can be heard in concert halls as a soloist and with orchestral accompaniment. Lucio Maier has performed in various cities in Argentina, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and the United States, including the Golden Hall of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
In the last two years he was a piano teacher at the River Plate University in Argentina. Currently he has a teaching position at the University of Music in Würzburg. He is also active in chamber music, regularly accompanying the vocal quartet "Harmony" and the mezzo-soprano Alicia Borges Berri, with whom he has already recorded a CD. His solo CD "Timeless Praise" was released in 2001.
