Anja Günther studied at the University of Music Würzburg the bachelor's programme in elementary music education (Prof. Barbara Metzger) with a minor in classical clarinet. This was followed by an artistic-pedagogical master's degree with a focus on university didactics and group teaching practice, also in Würzburg. In 2014/15, she received a one-year scholarship to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (SE), where she studied the master's program in rhythmics. At the University of Music, she has been teaching in the department of Elementary Music Education since October 2018. She also teaches at the Sing- und Musikschule Würzburg in the department of Elementary Music Education and works as an independent clarinet teacher.

Furthermore, Anja Günther is one of the most important young clarinettists of the German klezmer scene and has played on numerous stages in Germany and abroad (Yiddish Summer Weimar, Ethno Krakow Festival, University of Music Haifa, International Accordion Festival Vienna).

She tours regularly with the band Halva and released the album "Dinner in Sofia" (2021) on the Oriente Music label. She published two more CDs with the band Sher on a Shier in the label Raumer Records.

Anja Günther is a workshop lecturer for various cultural associations as well as at klezmer festivals and developed a klezmer concert format for children.
