Anja Günther has been working in the Department of Elementary Music Pedagogy since October 2018 and additionally in the Department of Instrumental/Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Music Würzburg since 2021. From 2022 to 2024, she was involved in the conception of the new music education master's degree programs for EMP, Inclusive Music Education, Community Music and Vocal Music Practice. She is the founder and director of the Global Groove Orchestra, the Ensemble for Music of the World at the University of Music Würzburg. Since October 2025, she has also been a lecturer for special tasks in elementary music education at the University of Music Nuremberg. She regularly gives further and advanced training courses in the areas of elementary music practice, intercultural music education, ensemble music-making and klezmer music.

Anja Günther studied elementary music education (Prof. Barbara Metzger) with classical clarinet in the bachelor's program in Würzburg. In 2014/15, she received a one-year scholarship at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (SE), where she studied the Master's program in Rhythmics. This was followed by an artistic-pedagogical master's degree with a focus on university didactics and group teaching practice, also in Würzburg.

She taught for many years at the Dekanatsmusikschule Würzburg and at the Sing- und Musikschule Würzburg as an elementary music teacher and clarinet teacher. In 2024/25 she was a lecturer in the department of "Ethnomusicology" at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.

As a clarinettist, Anja Günther has been involved in various music projects in the German klezmer scene (including Sher on a Shier, Halva, Klezmerorchester Erfurt, Alpenklezmer) and currently plays with her quartet Kaleidophonics. She has performed on numerous stages in Germany and abroad (Yiddish Summer Weimar, Ethno Krakow Festival, University of Music Haifa, Vienna International Accordion Festival). With the band Halva she released the album "Dinner in Sofia" (2021) on the Oriente Music label. She produced two further CDs with the group Sher on a Shier on the Raumer Records label. She has worked as a workshop lecturer for various cultural associations and klezmer festivals and has developed a klezmer concert format for children.
