Hansjörg Ewert studied school music at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and musicology, German language and literature, and philosophy at the universities of Freiburg and Würzburg. After his state examination, doctorate and various activities in opera directing and dramaturgy as well as edition projects, he has been an assistant at the Chair of Musicology in Würzburg since 2001 and an academic councilor since 2003. At the University of Music Würzburg, he has held a teaching position since the academic year 2020/2021. His work focuses on the music history of the 19th century and the Middle Ages.
