Dr. Frank Elbert

In 1998 he started the degree programmes Diplommusik (KA) and Diplommusiklehrer (IP) with main subject saxophone at the University of Music in Würzburg. During his studies he participated in various master classes in the instrumental field and attended several pedagogical trainings. At the same time he began to study "Teaching Music at High Schools" in 2001. He finished his diploma studies in music (KA) in March 2003 with the possibility of further studies in the advanced training class, which he successfully completed with the concert exam in January 2005. Already in December 2003 he graduated as a diploma music teacher. After his teacher training and teacher traineeship he has been teaching as StR at the Spessartgymnasium in Alzenau since 2008.
Since the summer semester of 2006, he has held the teaching position for "Subject Methodology and Teaching Practice Saxophone" at the University of Music in Würzburg. In the winter semester of 2007 he also taught "Literature of the Saxophone". Furthermore, he supervises pedagogical events and diploma theses at the University of Music. At the Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg he was given the teaching assignment for saxophone in 2009. In the master's programme in wind orchestra conducting at the University of Music Würzburg, he received the teaching assignment "Wind Orchestra Practice" in 2014. For years he has been active as a conductor or lecturer in many music clubs, associations and in various selection ensembles (Landesjugendblasorchester Niedersachsen, various association orchestras, etc.). As a musician, he has also played in many well-known orchestras in a wide variety of styles (Landesblasorchester, Südwestdeutsche Bläserphilharmonie, Bundesgrenzschutzorchester, Deutsche Bläserphilharmonie, etc.). In addition, he is an examiner and instructor in various music associations for all performance badges and for advanced courses to become a register leader, instructor and conductor. As a juror and adjudicator he is active in many competitions (various orchestra, chamber music, solo/duo competitions, Jugend musiziert,...) and adjudications.
Since 2007 he has been the association conductor of the brass band association Vorspessart and leads the youth association orchestra. At the beginning of 2012 he was appointed music director. Since March 2012, as a university representative, he has been chairman of the examination committee for the state recognition of leaders in amateur music making. In August 2012, he was elected state conductor of the Bavarian Brass Band Association (BBMV).
In 2014 he was appointed to the Literature Commission of the BDMV (Federal Association of German Music Associations), and in 2016 he was appointed Deputy Federal Music Director of the BDMV. In April 2018, he completed his doctorate with the topic "Wind class in elementary school - studies on the age of entry, instrumental-didactic procedures and effects" at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
