Prof. Stefan Albers

Stefan Albers studied in Karlsruhe in the class of Prof. Renate Greiss- Armin. He graduated with honors in both music teaching and artistic education. During his studies, he had the opportunity to play in various orchestras. He was invited to the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss and was twice appointed to the selection orchestra of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Stefan Albers was an academist at the Zurich Opera House and a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
Stefan Albers gained chamber music experience as a scholarship holder of the Villa Musica Foundation, of which he was a member from 2002 to 2006. He worked there with renowned teachers such as Aurele Nicolet, Jean-Claude Gerard, Klaus Thunemann, Ingo Goritzki and Heinz Holliger. Stefan Albers also attended master classes with Andrea Lieberknecht, Barthold Kuijken and Jeanne Baxtresser.
In spring 2005 Stefan Albers was a finalist and scholarship holder of the German Music Competition in Berlin and was therefore able to participate in the 50th National Selection Concerts of Young Artists in the 2006/2007 season. He was also a semi-finalist of the International Flute Competition in Kobe/Japan.
From 2005 to 2007 Stefan Albers studied in the soloist class of Prof. Jacques Zoon in Geneva and since 2006 he is solo flutist at the Mainfranken-Theater Würzburg. He has appeared as a soloist at the Bad Hersfeld Festival, the Mozart Festival Würzburg and at symphony concerts of the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Stefan Albers is a regular guest as solo flutist with orchestras such as the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra, the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken – Kaiserslautern, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Nuremberg State Theater, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the theaters in Meinigen and Ulm.
As a lecturer at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, Stefan Albers supervised students of music education from 2006 to 2018. At the invitation of the German Society for Flute, he participated in a concert and master class at the Würzburg Flute Days. In 2015 and 2017 he was invited to master classes in Busan, Daegu and Seoul/South Korea. From 2018 to 2020, Stefan Albers was in charge of the flute class at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main as a lecturer together with Prof. Stephanie Winker.
With the beginning of the winter semester 2018/19, Stefan Albers initially took over the professorship at the HfM Würzburg. For the winter semester 2019/20 he was appointed professor at the HfM Würzburg.
