For several years now, students of our HfM have been given the opportunity, in cooperation with the Mozartfest Würzburg, to bring the audience into contact with works of the respective concert evening. The "Writing Workshop Music Theory" focuses on the sound of the works themselves, wants to give selective listening suggestions and convey interesting facts about their creation. The texts for this are polished in the course over a period of months. This year, the difference between the two concerts was challenging: On June 2, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra performed two works for string orchestra (Mendelssohn and Schoeck) and two piano concertos (Haydn and Mozart) with Matthias Kirschnereit as soloist. Here, comparisons were made between the compositions with the same instrumentation.

On the second concert evening (June 12), a new concept awaited the audience with a program curated by this year's Artiste étoile of the Mozartfest, Isabel Mundry: the Ensemble Recherche combined works by Feldman, Sciarrino, Mozart and Mundry herself through improvised transitions, leaving sonic "imprints" (Mundry) in them. Students interviewed the composer on stage during the introduction, thereby also trying their hand at this mediation format. We look forward to continuing the project next year!
