In addition to a wide range of offers for all new students, the HfM Würzburg welcomes fellow students from other countries every year as part of the "Welcome Day" organised by the International Office. In addition to a particularly warm welcome, the aim of the event is to present the requirements and special features that apply to students from other countries.

In 2023, Vice President Prof Andreas C. Lehmann and the International Office welcomed almost 25 students from 13 European and non-European countries. The programme included a wealth of information about studying in Würzburg and the organisation of studies at our university, but in particular the presentation of the "Buddy Programme". Buddies are HfM students who completed a year abroad last year as part of the ERASMUS+ programme. After the intensive programme in the morning, student assistants and "buddies" showed the new students around the three HfM buildings. At the end of the event, guided tours of the city were offered in three languages to familiarise students with the history and stories of their new home.

The International Welcome Day is the first building block in the integration of international students at the HfM. Over the course of the semester, the International Office organises further events and workshops for and offers students from other countries individual advice and support throughout their studies.
