With the motto, the 'Days of Contemporary Music' 2022 refer to the state of emergency of the first lockdown and its consequences for music and music makers.
This year's "Composer in Residence" Simon Steen-Andersen, one of the most sought-after exponents of New Music, presents a multimedia concept of sonic exploration of real spaces under "Run Time Error". Within the framework of the New Music Days, various concerts will take place, including a symphony concert in cooperation with the Mainfrankentheater (Jan. 27), with works by the aforementioned Steen-Andersen and Bartók, a live electronics concert by guitarist Yaron Deutsch with composer Stefan Prins (Jan. 29), which presents and expands the interplay of composition and improvisation, of instrument and computer, as well as a Wandelkonzert of solo pieces with different media concepts (Jan. 30). In the opening concert (25.01.) the well-known new music violinist Irvine Arditti will perform with the university's own Ensemble for New Music under the direction of Prof. Robert HP Platz and Romeo Wecks. Students of the composition classes of Prof. Andreas Dohmen and Prof. Robert HP Platz will present their own works in a concert (Jan. 26).
In addition to the public concerts, workshops on composition techniques will be held for the students of the HfM Würzburg.
