On January 13/14, the 2022 Seraphin Competition (postponed to early 2023 for scheduling reasons) was held in the Lied Duo category. The Seraphin Foundation, endowed by Prof. Jörg Metzger and Margaret Sheila Metzger-Braidech, organizes the competition and awards highly endowed prizes in the categories Liedduo and Violoncello, respectively, every year in alternation.

In the Liedduo category, the compulsory repertoire included a song by Franz Schubert as well as a song composition after 1960 that contains free-tonal passages. The other repertoire could be freely chosen.

The winning song duos this year are:

  • Jakob Ewert & Marianna Uzankichyan (1st prize).
  • Yao Liu & Saori Iuchi (2nd prize)
  • Anastasia Fendel & Chen He (3rd prize)

In addition, Dmitrii Zhovkovskii, Xinxin Zhao and Mechtild Söffler were awarded promotional prizes.
