If you are enrolled at the HfM Würzburg, you don't have to spend extra money for the €9 ticket. This is because the semester ticket you have already purchased is sufficient to travel throughout Germany. A pro-rata refund of the semester ticket paid is usually made via a reduced fee in the upcoming winter semester 2022/23.

The starting date for the nationwide €9 ticket is June 1, 2022. Students will be able to use the Germany-wide public transport service until August 31, 2022, with the semester ticket they have already purchased and their ID card. It is not necessary to purchase a separate €9 ticket.

The ticket is valid nationwide on all buses, streetcars, subways, commuter trains, and local and regional trains. Long-distance travel with ICE, Intercity, Eurocity and the FlixMobility offer cannot be used.

A proportional refund of the semester ticket already paid for the months of June, July, and August 2022 is not possible for administrative reasons.

Due to the validity period of 6.5 months at the HfM Würzburg, the semester ticket fee for the winter semester 2022/23 will be reduced by €10.65 to €70.95.

Students who were enrolled at the HfM Würzburg in the summer semester 2022 and have completed their studies, have been exmatriculated or have transferred to another university outside Würzburg will receive a corresponding refund from the university in the amount of the respective reduced semester fee (with proof of bank details).
