Waka Yamada, a student in Prof. Silke-Thora Matthies’s piano class, was awarded second prize in Category 5 at the 3rd International ‘Wiener Klassik’ Piano Competition in 2026.

The competition took place from 18 to 20 July 2026 at the Ehrbarsaal and the Musikverein in Vienna, bringing together participants from various countries.

Waka Yamada has been studying for a Master’s degree in piano at the Würzburg University of Music since the 2023/24 winter semester. Since the 2025/26 winter semester, she has been continuing her studies in Prof. Silke-Thora Matthies’s masterclass.
