System accreditation
at the HfM Würzburg
The HfM Würzburg is striving for system accreditation. The subject is the internal quality assurance system (QMS) of the HfM. With the system accreditation, the university receives the right to award the seal of the Accreditation Council itself for the study programs it has examined in an internal accreditation ("audit").
Procedure
The university prepares a self-report, which is sent with numerous documents (process descriptions, guidelines, etc.) to the supervising accreditation agency for the assessing body. After two inspections by this committee, consisting of external experts, the agency prepares an accreditation report, with which the university applies for system accreditation at the Foundation Accreditation Council.
Content
The system accreditation examines whether the university has established a QMS that ensures the successful internal accreditation ("audit") of the bachelor's and master's degree programmes. The aim is to ensure that these study programmes comply with the European "Bologna Standards" and that their quality is continuously reviewed and improved. All framework conditions that play a role in ensuring successful studies are taken into account: the evaluation of studies and teaching, programme development, the internal accreditation procedure and other measures available for improving the quality of studies (supplementary QMS instruments).
Legal framework
The procedure proceeds in accordance with the State Treaty on Study Accreditation (StudAkkStV) of 2017 according to the Bavarian Study Accreditation Ordinance (BayStudAkkV) of 2018. A procedure is supervised by an accreditation agency, which is organized as a registered association.
Current status
The HfM Würzburg carries out the procedure with the agency ACQUIN and is advised by the agency evalag.
In July 2021, the first, corona-related virtual, inspection by the panel of five external experts took place. Documents on the 1st inspection of the system accreditation are deposited in the cross-semester WueCampus course room "HfM System Accreditation" and can be viewed by all employees and students of the HfM.
The second walk-through took place online on March 14/15, 2022.
