Dan Talpan
received piano lessons since the age of 8 and violin lessons since the age of 10 at the artistic high school in Neumarkt (Transylvania/Romania). After graduating from high school, he studied violin in the Meisterklasse of Prof. Ferencz Balogh at the Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca (Transylvania/Romania). After the artistic state examination he qualified further as an instrumental teacher. He was then a full-time violin teacher at the High School of Music in Großwardein (Oradea). From 1980 he was first violinist at the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Brasov. Dan Talpan was a member of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and played at the Regensburg Municipal Theater before taking up his full-time teaching position at the Obernburg Municipal Music School. Furthermore he is concertmaster of the "Camerata Obernburg" and the "Unterfränkische Philharmonie", leader and standing violinist of the newly founded salon orchestra "Fleur", and member of the "Collegium musicum" Aschaffenburg (1st violin).
Since 1997 Dan Talpan has been the leader of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Obernburg Municipal Music School. Since 1999 he has had a teaching position at the University of Music in Würzburg in the area of early music education. Since 2005 he has been head of the string department of the Heilbronn Municipal Music School and the Youth Symphony Orchestra.
