Prof. Hans-Martin Rux-Brachtendorf

Born in 1965, trumpeter Hans-Martin Rux-Brachtendorf studied modern trumpet with Edmund Buschinger in Düsseldorf and historical trumpet with Friedemann Immer at the Cologne University of Music. He completed postgraduate studies in early music at the Hilversum University of Music. During his studies, he became first trumpet player with Musica Antiqua Köln, where he received significant impulses for his musical development. Numerous renowned ensembles for historical performance practice (Akamus, Das kleine Konzert, Café Zimmermann, Ensemble Pygmalion...) were stations in his musical career. Today he is a permanent member of Collegium 1704 (Prague), Bachakademie Stuttgart, FBO and Concerto Köln. More than 200 CD productions, including numerous solo recordings (Bach's second Brandenburg Concerto, all Telemann trumpet concertos, Biber's Sonatae Tam Aris...  as well as numerous solo parts in Bach's cantatas) document his musical oeuvre.

Hans-Martin Rux-Brachtendorf was appointed professor of baroque trumpet at the Würzburg University of Music in February 2024. He also teaches a class at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
