Julia Küßwetter

Julia Küßwetter studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Musikhochschule "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, the Musikuniversität Graz, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater and the Bavarian Theaterakademie with Norma Sharp, Josef Loibl, Semjon Skigin and Helmut Deutsch and graduated with distinction.
She then received a scholarship from the German Stage Association and was a finalist in several international competitions, such as the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna. She received decisive impulses in master classes with Ruth Ziesak, Emma Kirby and Barbara Schlick.
After her studies she was engaged at the Chemnitz Opera and created several world premieres at the Munich Biennale. Invitations to the Hamburg State Opera, the Zurich Opera, the DUCTAC in Dubai, the Bad Hersfeld Festival, and the International Bach Festival in Schaffhausen and to a Lied recital in New York followed.
Julia Küßwetter works with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Orchestra, the baroque orchestra La Banda, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt and the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra Konstanz, among others, and sings under renowned conductors such as Gary Bertini and David Stahl.
Engagements have taken her throughout Europe, to the USA and the Middle East. CD recordings and radio broadcasts with BR, MDR and SWR document her artistic work. For example, a highly acclaimed CD with songs by Richard Strauss was released in 2019.
She is a lecturer for singing at the Berufsfachschule des Bezirks Mittelfranken, as well as the Musikhochschule Kaleidos in Zurich and regularly gives masterclasses at the Hochschule für Musik Geneva and the summer festivals Brescia and Rouffach.
