Born and raised in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, Jia Jia received her first piano lessons at the age of three.

She has performed frequently as a soloist in Hangzhou and Shanghai, including Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto and most recently Brahms' 1st Piano Concerto at the Shanghai Concert Hall in 2010. In 2007, she won second prize at the "17th Young Musician International Competition Città di Barletta" in Italy.

In 2009, Jia Jia came to Germany to pursue her diploma in "Artistic Education" at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTM) in the class of Prof. Christopher Oakden, which she received in 2011. While working with singers, she discovered her love for Lied and so in 2011 she additionally took the Chamber Music / Master Lied Accompaniment course with Prof. Jan-Philip Schulze. She completed both courses in 2014 with "very good". Already during this time Jia Jia worked as a répétiteur for the chamber music department. At the end of 2013, she began her master's degree in opera correpetition at HMTM with Prof. Paul Weigold and Prof. Martin Brauß. In 2013, she was awarded a doctorate in music linguistics by the East China Pedagogical University.

Her professional career led her from an internship at the Hanover State Opera to the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern (solo repetiteur) to the Städt. Musikschule Crailsheim (head of the piano and accompaniment department) and to the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (teaching accompaniment in the field of singing / musical theater). She joins the Opera School team as Director of Studies/Correpetition at the beginning of the summer semester 2022.

As a highly sought-after répétiteur, she participates in audition trainings and master classes at home and abroad.

In addition, Jia Jia is leading a German-Chinese artistic project, in which she was also assigned the artistic responsibility for the "Shanghai New Year Gala for Foreign Experts" of 2021 and 2022.
