Carolin Heuser (born in Augsburg in 1998) is deputy headteacher and inclusion officer (since 2024), as well as a teacher of the saxophone, elementary music-making and improvisation workshops (since 2021) at the Musikschule Fürth e.V. She also leads mixed-ability, inclusive ensembles there, such as the bands ‘Alle Neune’ and ‘Vollgas Connected’ (comprising people with and without disabilities). Since 2024, she has been contributing her expertise from educational practice as a lecturer in inclusive music education at the Würzburg University of Music.

After completing her A-levels in 2016 and undertaking a voluntary social year in the cultural sector at the Fürth Music School e.V., Carolin Heuser studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Saxophone with a focus on art and pedagogy at the Würzburg University of Music under Prof. Hubert Winter, Prof. Marko Lackner and Leszek Zadlo (graduated in 2021). In the summer of 2023, she successfully completed her Master’s degrees in Artistic Jazz Saxophone under Prof. Hubert Winter and Leonard Huhn, and in Artistic Jazz Arrangement/Composition under Prof. Marko Lackner. To ensure a sound pedagogical grounding, she completed the certificate programme in Elementary Music Education as a supplementary subject under Prof. Michael Forster and Prof. Daniela Hasenhündl (graduated in 2021) and took part in numerous pedagogical further training courses and specialist conferences outside the Würzburg University of Music. From 2018 to 2020, she completed the part-time course ‘Instrumental Music-Making with People with Disabilities at Music Schools’ (BLIMBAM) run by the Association of German Music Schools at the Remscheid Academy. During her studies, she served as student representative for the Jazz Department, was a member of the Senate and the University Council, and received funding through the Germany Scholarship for gifted and high-achieving students.

In addition to her work at the Musikschule Fürth e.V., she has been leading the BLIMBAM course since 2025, together with Claudia Schmidt and Robert Wagner. Furthermore, she regularly lectures at professional development courses and specialist conferences organised by the VBSM and VdM on making music in groups of mixed ability and on music education for people with disabilities. She has published articles in leading educational journals such as ‘nmz’ and ‘üben&musizieren’.

As a saxophonist and composer, Carolin Heuser performs in various ensembles, including her modern jazz quintet, the Eichheuser Quintet (www.eichheuser-quintett.de, debut album “irgendwo dazwischen” 2023) and the saxophone quintet “Pentaphone Project”. With the successful jazz trio ‘Jessicats’ (www.jessicats-band.de, debut album of the same name in 2025), she places a particular focus on works by female jazz composers. In addition, Carolin Heuser plays in big bands such as the ‘Groove Legend Orchestra’ in Nuremberg (www.groovelegendorchestra.de) and ‘'Oumuamua – Evgenij Zelikman Orchestra’.
