Almut Gatz, born in Heidelberg in 1981, studied school music (violin) and maths as well as music theory with Eckehard Kiem in Freiburg. From 2009, she took on teaching positions at the conservatories in Freiburg, Karlsruhe (PreCollege), Nuremberg, Dresden and at the UdK Berlin and held a half professorship for music theory methodology in Freiburg in the winter semester 2016/2017. From 2014 to 2017, she taught music theory and aural training at the Institute of Musicology at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. She has conducted several choirs and performs as a violinist in numerous ensembles (chamber music, early music).
