Prof. Dr. Alicia de Bánffy-Hall

Prof.in Dr.in Alicia de Bánffy-Hall studied Performing Arts / Community Music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and subsequently completed an MSc in Arts and Cultural Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. She completed her doctorate at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and was awarded the Bavarian Culture Prize for her dissertation.
From 2004 to 2012, she was director of the community arts company "Amabadelo" and realized projects in cultural, community and educational institutions in Liverpool in the fields of music, movement and theater. In 2015, she took over the conceptual management of the first four community music projects at the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. Between 2018 and 2021, she advised the Konzerthaus Dortmund on the development of community music. From May 2022 to June 2023, she worked as a Critical Friend for the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg as part of the community project "Love Est".
She also runs the Community Music certificate course at the Landesmusikakademie NRW and has been a professor of Community Music at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences since 2022. She is Chair of the Community Music Activity Commission of the International Society of Music Education, Research Fellow at the Laurier Centre for Music in the Community in Canada, founder of the Community Music Network and member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Community Music.
