Prof. Lea Birringer

"She is one of the most talented violinists of her generation and is going her own way" (Pizzicato): Lea Birringer already caused a sensation as a young student with her debut in the Berlin Philharmonie. During her studies with Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and with Pavel Vernikov at the Music and Arts Private University in Vienna, the violinist established herself as a prizewinner at international competitions and is now a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. She is a regular guest at renowned festivals and orchestras, including the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Staatskapelle Halle, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, the Polska Filharmonia Bałtycka and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma. As the winner of the 15th International Johannes Brahms Competition, she has performed in major concert halls such as the Musikverein Vienna, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Louvre in Paris. She was awarded the Saarbrücken Cultural Prize for her successes.
In addition to her solo activities, Lea Birringer is also active as a chamber musician and has worked with numerous artists, including Igor Levit, Wen-Sinn Yang and Barbara Bonney. Together with her sister Esther, she regularly performs on stage and their joint CDs have been enthusiastically received by critics. Lea Birringer's latest recordings have received glowing reviews and have all been nominated for International Classical Music Awards. Another album will follow in 2025, a co-production with SWR Kultur and the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie.
Lea Birringer taught at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (Sion location) and at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar. In November 2024, she was appointed professor at the University of Music Würzburg.
