Prof Dr Anja Schlömerkemper is Professor of Mathematics. Her main interest is mathematical analysis with applications in materials science and physics, e.g. elastic and magnetic materials. She works with mathematical methods from the calculus of variations, partial differential equations and homogenisation theory.
She has held the Chair of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences at the University of Würzburg since 2011. After studying physics in Göttingen, she completed her doctorate in mathematics in Leipzig in 2002. She then held postdoctoral positions in Oxford (UK), Stuttgart, Leipzig and Bonn and was a deputy and visiting professor in Erlangen. Since 2021, she has been Vice President of the University of Würzburg, responsible for equal opportunities, career planning and sustainability. She has been an external member of the University Council of the University of Music since June 2023.
