From November 22 to 24, the 9th Bertold Hummel Competition took place in the Chamber Music Hall of the University of Music Würzburg. Already in the first round of the competition, all admitted participants showed outstanding quality - both in terms of playing technique and on the level of interpretative realization of the required works.
After long and intensive jury deliberations on the consistently impressive amounts, six participants were admitted to the main round: Catharina Mothes (University of Music Würzburg), Julia Kräuter (University of Music Würzburg), Johannes (Joost) Willemze (Conservatorium van Amsterdam), Hyejin Kim (CNSMD Lyon), Shiho Minami (University of Music Würzburg) and Rosetta Schade (HfMT Hamburg).
Hyejin Kim, Julia Kräuter, Shiho Minami and Johannes Willemze finally reached the final round and again showed top-class skills on the harp, which carried away the audience and the jury. The prizes of the nearly equal musical contributions were awarded as follows:
1st prize: Hyejin Kim
2nd prize: Julia Kräuter and Shiho Minami
3rd prize: Johannes Willemze.
