Inspiring insights at the network day for flute pedagogy

What is it actually like, the everyday life as a flute teacher? What different settings are there in the context of a freelance or employed career and what opportunities/challenges are associated with them? What practical tips and tricks can be used to diversify the daily teaching routine?

On Saturday, July 01, 2023, flute students and experienced flute teachers from all over southern Germany came together to discuss these and other didactic questions during the "Flute Pedagogy Network Day". A special pleasure and enrichment this time in the morning was the testing of ensemble literature for teaching practice from the pen of the flutist, composer and arranger Raphaëlle Zaneboni, who was also personally present and shared her wealth of experience with the group. In the afternoon, the 15 participants discussed ways in which instrumental teachers can engage in a constructive exchange with their students about their practicing behavior, and what gratifying but also challenging moments the daily work routine holds for music educators.

The goal of this regular, cross-curricular event within the framework of flute didactics (organization: Corina Nastoll) is to promote the exchange between university teaching and professional practice and to give all participants the opportunity to network and inspire each other across regions and generations.
